Despite one loss to start the week, the Ypsilanti varsity Lady Phoenix rattled off three wins in a row to finish the week strong.

On Saturday against the Wayne Zebras the locals rattled off two wins. Ypsilanti won the first battle 11-2.

Ashley Fulks struck out three in the win. Anna Inoue had two hits including a double and Dominique Brigham had two hits as well.

"In the first game we really played well," Ypsilanti Coach Ryan Minarik said. "We played well."

The second game was a different story but the locals managed an 11-9 win. Anna Inoue got the win.

"We made a lot of mental mistakes in this one," he said. "It almost cost us the game."

Masako Inoue went 4-for-5 with a triple and three RBI. Christiane Smith had two hits and three RBI's.

Megan Osborne was hurt in the game with a sprained ankle.

The Phoenix were up 11-3 and Wayne battled back to score six runs late in the game.

On April 23, the Lady Phoenix defeated Redford Union 7-4. Fulks got the win and had three strikeouts. Anna Inoue had a double and two RBI and Masako Inoue had a two-out single that scored two runs.

"They had a couple of passed ball," he said. "I thought we hit the ball well and played good defense."

On April 21, the locals fell 11-0 in five innings to Taylor Truman. They struck out 11 times and only managed three hits.

"They are the best team in the league," he said. "We didn't make any errors but they hit the ball very well."

The Lady Phoenix improve to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the Mega Blue. Today they will play a double header at Ypsilanti Lincoln and earlier in the week they played at Woodhaven.
